Les fruits du dessin #67

Jérôme Zonder (*1974)
2016-2017

Parisian artist Jérôme Zonder, a graduate of the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris, is developing an innovative practice centered on drawing. Mostly produced in graphite and charcoal, his work explores the human condition and the questions it raises, incorporating numerous references to Albrecht Dürer, Rembrandt and comic strip artists Robert Crumb and Charles Burns. Over the past twenty years, Zonder has participated in numerous group exhibitions and has had several acclaimed solo shows, including the notable Devenir Traces (2018) at the Château de Chambord, which featured over 130 of the artist’s works in the venue’s historic spaces. Les fruits du dessin #67 (The Fruits of Drawing #67) was shown at Chambord before being displayed in the 2019-2020 exhibition dedicated to the artist at MBAL. The artist subsequently donated this work to the museum.
