The Museum of Fine Arts Le Locle is proud to announce its first participation in Art Genève, an art fair that has become the must-attend event for international art collectors and enthusiasts in Switzerland. For the 13th edition of the fair, to be held from 30 January to 2 February 2025, the MBAL is putting on an exhibition alongside others from eminent institutions. The museum is offering carte blanche to the artist Koenraad Dedobbeleer, who will be the subject of an exhibition on its premises in October 2025.
Taking his cue from the museum’s vast collection, the Belgian artist will be offering Art Genève a fertile dialogue between it and his own creations. The MBAL’s collection of some 5,000 objects includes a remarkable number of paintings, sculptures and objects of applied art, as well as prints, posters, drawings, watercolours and photographs: all sources of aesthetic and historical inspiration for the artist, known for his work on everyday objects that are often mocked.
Fascinated by the world of manufacturing and industry at the heart of Locle’s history, Dedobbeleer has chosen to create a dialogue with three works from the museum’s collection. Between precision craftsmanship, latent rebellion and scenographic prosthesis, the artist reinvents himself as a craftsman, creating a bewitching hybrid installation.
