What is prison for, if not to punish? Who does it punish and who not? This work of photographic research, organized by the Association pour la promotion de la photographie dans le canton de Neuchâtel (APPCN), examines the Swiss carceral system, with specific emphasis on short sentences, at the detention facility La Promenade in La Chaux-de-Fonds. In collaboration with the persons detained, Laurence Rasti addresses the issue of the overrepresentation of vulnerable people in prison, questioning a practice of imprisonment that seems to target the most precarious.
