The MBAL invites you to the opening of the exhibition outside the walls by Anne Golaz, “Loin des Maux”.
The MBAL renews its collaboration with the Réseau Hospitalier Neuchâtelois (RHNe) and invites the photographer Anne Golaz (Switzerland, 1983) to create an artistic work in resonance with the hospital context. Marked by the state of mind linked to the pandemic, and inscribing her project in the heart of the hospital, the artist creates a series that revolves around “all those small and large beliefs that make us imagine, hope or assume”.
“Take care of yourself, Stay safe… These words got me thinking about what protects us. (…) Beyond the aesthetic or unusual aspect of certain images, I believe I simply wanted to evoke the fragility of the human being, his perplexity in the face of the world, as well as his hopes which make him vulnerable.” Anne Golaz
Based in Finland for several years, Anne Golaz studied at the Vevey School of Photography and at the University of Art and Design in Helsinki. In 2010, she won the competition of the Photographic Survey of the Canton of Fribourg and produced a personal work around the theme of hunting. In Finland, she produced Metsästä (From the Woods) which won the light mention at the Festival Image de Vevey in 2012. Her most personal work Corbeau was published by MACK Editions and, among other things, exhibited at the Rencontres d’Arles in 2018.
This exhibition is presented at the hospital sites of La Chaux-de-Fonds from September 8 to 23 and Pourtalès in Neuchâtel, from September 26 to October 9, 2022.
