Opening of the MBAL x RHNe exhibition at the Réseau hospitalier neuchâtelois in La Chaux-de-Fonds, featuring the work of photographer Virginie Rebetez.
The Réseau hospitalier neuchâtelois (RHNe) has partnered with the MBAL to organise an artistic installation dedicated to the field of healthcare. The aim is twofold: to reinforce the vocation of hospital sites as places of living and to enable the MBAL to reach out beyond its walls to a wider audience.
This year’s exhibition, entitled Le souffle d’Amida, presents the work of Swiss artist Virginie Rebetez. During more than four months spent in the Valley of the Pyramids, on an archaeological excavation site near Cairo in Egypt, the artist continued her research into absence, traces and invisible presences, the core of her artistic production. Inventing herself as an archaeologist, Rebetez experiments with techniques for preserving traces, such as frottage. In this way, she captures living souls and confronts the beliefs of an existence in the afterlife.
