This winter, the Museum of Fine Arts in Le Locle invites the public to discover the work created by Lermite after the 1950s.

Born in Le Locle, the artist (1920-1977) spent most of his life in the Jura, a region that he found deeply inspiring. He moved first to Saignelégier and then to La Brévine, before finally settling in Les Bayards after 1954. These wanderings around the Jura were a major source of inspiration for this man, whose work turned a corner after the famous Calvaire Brévinien (1949), exhibited at the museum in 2010. His many landscapes with increasingly geometric contours, shown in the museum’s historic rooms, bear witness to this slow but sure evolution.
